    APPLICATIONS

    1. Pharmaceutical intermediate: Used to produce 2,3,4‑trifluoronitrobenzene, a key building block for quinolone antibacterial drugs such as ofloxacin and levofloxacin. Also used in the preparation of antiviral agents (e.g., the fluorinated benzene fragment of laninamivir).
    2. Pesticide intermediate: Employed in the synthesis of fluorine‑containing diphenyl ether herbicides and insecticides, for example, the preparation of benzoxazole insecticides via nitration‑reduction‑cyclization.

    CHEMICAL PROPERTIES

The strong electron-withdrawing effect of the three fluorine atoms makes the benzene ring highly electron-deficient, favoring nucleophilic substitution (especially at positions 2 and 4). Unstable in the presence of base; at high temperature and strong base conditions, fluorine atoms may undergo hydrolysis. It is highly flammable when exposed to open flame or high heat; store in a cool, well-ventilated area.
