Calcium dihydrogen phosphate
BRIEF DESCRIPTION
Calcium dihydrogen phosphate, also known as monocalcium phosphate, has the chemical formula Ca(H2PO4)2·H2O. It is a white monoclinic crystalline powder, odorless and tasteless, soluble in dilute hydrochloric acid, nitric acid, acetic acid, slightly soluble in water, and insoluble in ethanol. Relative density 2.32. It is stable in the air. It starts to lose water at 75°C to form anhydrous calcium hydrogen phosphate. At 30°C, 1.8g of calcium dihydrogen phosphate can be dissolved in 100ml of water. The aqueous solution is acidic, and it is hydrolyzed into calcium hydrogen phosphate when heated. It loses crystal water at 109°C and decomposes into calcium metaphosphate at 203°C.
Purpose (USE)
Calcium dihydrogen phosphate is used as a buffer, a bulking agent, a flour improver, a nutritional supplement, a yeast food, an emulsifier, a curing agent, an antioxidant synergist, and a stabilizer in the food industry. For example, it is used as a flour, cake, pastry, and baking quality improver, a tribometer, an analytical reagent, an acidifier for baking powder and flour, a food and feed additive, and a plastic stabilizer. Calcium dihydrogen phosphate is used in fertilizers, glass manufacturing, plastic stabilizers, and livestock supplementary feeds. The amount added to feed is generally about 1% to 2%.
