Hexafluoroisopropanol
BRIEF DESCRIPTION
Hexafluoroisopropyl alcohol (HFIP) is a viscous, colorless liquid with a pungent odor. It is an ideal solvent for dissolving polyamides and esters and can be used to analyze nylon. Typically, a small amount of sodium trifluoroacetate can be added to the eluent to reduce sample aggregation. Although HFIP has a certain viscosity, its boiling point is very low, and it usually needs to be analyzed at 40°C to reduce the back pressure of the chromatographic column. Hexafluoroisopropanol is also a highly polar solvent, which can cause the calibration curve obtained with mixed bed chromatography columns to become nonlinear.

USE
Hexafluoroisopropanol (HFIP) is a new type of fluorine-containing compound. It is a highly polar solvent that is easily mixed with water and many organic solvents. It has good thermal stability and good transmittance to ultraviolet light. . These properties enable HFIP to become an ideal solvent in many polymerization systems: HFIP is used as an intermediate for pharmaceuticals and can be used to synthesize the inhaled anesthetic sevoflurane, and it is also an intermediate for the synthesis of agricultural chemicals: HFIP can be used in electronics Solvent detergent: HFIP can dissolve a large part of polymers, such as polyester, polyamide, polyacrylonitrile, polyacetal and hydrolyzed polyvinyl ester. Due to this property, it can be used very well in analysis. Application and as regenerant for polymer reuse.
