    BRIEF DESCRIPTION

m-Fluoroanisole (also known as 3-fluoroanisole) is an important fluorinecontaining aromatic ether organic intermediate. At room temperature, it is a pale yellow liquid, flammable, and potentially hazardous to aquatic environments. It is mainly used as an intermediate in pesticides and pharmaceuticals. It can be synthesized from 3-fluorophenol and methanol.

    TECHNICAL INDICATORS

    Items Result
    Appearance Pale yellow liquid
    Density 1.104 g/mL (25°C)
    Vapor pressure 4.9 mmHg (25°C)
    Purity (%) ≥99.8%

    APPLICATIONS

1.Pharmaceutical intermediate: Used in the synthesis of antipsychotic drugs such as risperidone and its derivatives; also used as a side‑chain intermediate for fluconazole‑type antifungals. Example: conversion to 3‑fluoro‑4‑methoxyaniline for further preparation of antidepressant drugs.
2.Pesticide intermediate: Used to prepare fluorine‑containing diphenyl ether herbicides, e.g., analogues of acifluorfen, and as an aromatic ring modification intermediate for insecticides such as fipronil.
3.Organic functional materials: Used as a monomer for synthesizing fluorine‑containing liquid crystal display materials, improving dielectric anisotropy and response speed. Also used to prepare bridging ligands for metal‑organic frameworks.

    STORAGE CONDITIONS

1.Store in a cool, dry, well‑ventilated area away from ignition sources and heat.
2.Keep container tightly sealed; store under inert gas or in a dry environment to avoid moisture.
3.Separate from oxidizing agents and food chemicals – do not mix storage.
4.Ventilation systems should be equipped with static electricity grounding.
5.The storage area should be equipped with spill containment and appropriate collection materials.

    PACKAGE

1.Polyethylene plastic drums or steel‑plastic composite drums, with moisture‑proof inner liner.
2.Other packaging forms available upon request.

    CHEMICAL PROPERTIES

Boiling point: 158°C (743 mmHg), flash point: 111°F (~44°C), refractive index: 1.488. The fluorine atom reduces the electron density of the benzene ring; the methoxy group is ortho/paradirecting. Can undergo FriedelCrafts reactions in the presence of Lewis acids. Freely soluble in ethanol, ether and other organic solvents; insoluble in water. Flammable liquid; store away from ignition sources.
