    BRIEF DESCRIPTION

Sodium hydroxide, also known as caustic soda, caustic soda, caustic soda, and flake caustic soda, is an inorganic compound with a chemical formula of NaOH and a relative molecular weight of 39.9970. Sodium hydroxide is highly alkaline and extremely corrosive. It can be used as an acid neutralizer, complex masking agent, precipitant, precipitation masking agent, color developer, saponifier, peeling agent, detergent, etc. It has a wide range of uses.

    USE

    1. Used in the production of paper and cellulose pulp; used in the production of soap, synthetic detergents, synthetic fatty acids and the refining of animal and vegetable oils and fats.
    2. In the textile printing and dyeing industry, it is used as a desizing agent, scouring agent and mercerizing agent for cotton cloth.
    3. The chemical industry uses it to produce borax, sodium cyanide, formic acid, oxalic acid, phenol, etc. The petroleum industry uses it to refine petroleum products and is used in oil field drilling mud.
    4. It is also used in the production of aluminum oxide, surface treatment of metallic zinc and metallic copper, as well as in glass, enamel, leather making, medicine, dyes and pesticides.
    5. Food-grade products are used as acid neutralizers in the food industry, as peeling agents for citrus fruits and peaches, as detergents for empty bottles and cans, and as decolorizers and deodorizers.
    6. Widely used basic analytical reagent. Prepare standard alkali solution for analysis. Absorbent of small amount of carbon dioxide and water. Neutralization of acid. Sodium salt manufacturing. Widely used in papermaking, chemical industry, printing and dyeing, medicine, metallurgy (aluminum smelting), chemical fiber, electroplating, water treatment, tail gas treatment, etc.
    7. Used as neutralizing agent, complexing masking agent, precipitating agent, precipitation masking agent, and colorimetric agent for determination of ketosterol by thin layer analysis. Used in preparation of sodium salt and saponifying agent. Used in manufacturing various sodium salts, soaps, pulp, finishing of cotton fabrics, silk, viscose fibers, regeneration of rubber products, metal cleaning, electroplating, bleaching, etc.
    8. In cosmetic creams, this product and stearic acid and other saponifications act as emulsifiers and are used to make vanishing creams, shampoos, etc.

    STORAGE CONDITIONS

    1. Sodium hydroxide is slightly corrosive to glass products. The two will generate sodium silicate, which will cause the piston in the glass instrument to stick to the instrument. Therefore, glass bottle stoppers should not be used when storing sodium hydroxide solution, otherwise the bottle cap may not be opened.
    2. If a glass container is used to hold hot sodium hydroxide solution for a long time, it may also be damaged.
    3. Sodium hydroxide should be stored in a cool, dry, well-ventilated warehouse. 4. Keep away from fire and heat sources. The storage temperature should not exceed 35℃ and the relative humidity should not exceed 80%.
    5. The package must be sealed and must not be exposed to moisture. It should be stored separately from flammable (combustible) materials, acids, etc. and must not be mixed.
    6. The storage area should be equipped with appropriate materials to contain leaks.

    PACKAGE

1.Solid sodium hydroxide is packed into 0.5 mm thick steel barrels and tightly sealed, with the net weight of each barrel not exceeding 100 kg.
2.Plastic bag or double-layer kraft paper bag in a fully open or middle-open steel drum.
3.Threaded glass bottles, iron-capped glass bottles, plastic bottles or metal barrels (cans) in ordinary wooden boxes.
4.Threaded glass bottles, plastic bottles or tinned steel barrels (cans) with full bottom lattice boxes, fiberboard boxes or plywood boxes.
5.Tin-plated thin steel drums (cans), metal drums (cans), plastic bottles or metal hoses outside corrugated paper boxes. The packaging containers must be complete, sealed, and have obvious "corrosive items" signs.

    CHEMICAL PROPERTIES

1.Sodium hydroxide is corrosive to fibers, skin, glass, ceramics, etc., and releases heat when dissolved or when a concentrated solution is diluted.
2.Neutralization reaction with inorganic acid can also generate a large amount of heat and produce corresponding salts.
3.It reacts with metals such as aluminum and zinc, and non-metals such as boron and silicon to release hydrogen.
4.It undergoes disproportionation reaction with halogens such as chlorine, bromine and iodine.
5.It can precipitate metal ions from aqueous solutions into hydroxides.
6.It can cause oil to undergo saponification reaction to generate corresponding sodium salts of organic acids and alcohols, which is the principle of removing oil stains from fabrics.
