Yttrium fluoride
BRIEF DESCRIPTION
Yttrium fluoride is a gray-white powder or crystalline chemical with the molecular formula YF₃. Yttrium fluoride exhibits a cubic system at room temperature and has a high melting point (1387°C) and boiling point (2227°C). This compound is insoluble in water and difficult to dissolve in hydrochloric acid, nitric acid and sulfuric acid, but soluble in perchloric acid. Yttrium fluoride has a certain degree of hygroscopicity in the air, but remains stable at room temperature and pressure. It has a density of 4.01 g/mL at 25°C and has a high refractive index.
